Have you seen all the girls running around IRL and in those glossy images that arrive in your inbox from Vogue.com that are trotting around in tennis shoes and dresses? I wrote about it here when I first decided to sport the look myself and I've been getting really into it for the past few years. Granted, everyone I know owns those Stan Smith green Adidas sneakers, and as much as I like them too, I decided to opt for the luxurious Common Projects. I always said I would never do sneakers because everyone else was, but I figured out how to do them my way. Lately though, people are also adding backpacks into the mix. So now not only do you have tennis shoes and a dress, but now you have to sport a backpack for an additional cool factor. What work this is!
I'm not sure I can pull off the backpack look. I've never been super into backpacks. Even when I was in grade school, I totally started the handbag as a backpack look. Some odd years ago, I purchased a Prada backpack when I was shopping around Milan, but I ended up giving it to the little girl that I used to babysit, which is still probably her most expensive item in her closet to date. My friend Heather wears her Chanel backpack, that super ugly paint splattered one that is still really chic, and she looks so great. I have seen this trend of the T-D-B (tennis shoe, dress, backpack) all over Europe, Asia and in now, most recently, in America, and I'm suspicious. I'm onto you, you TDB wearers. Onto you.
P.S- how cool would I look with this Pucci Skateboard?
