I began the stair climb to the second floor.
As I exit the hallway at my destination level, I make a sharp left, only to be held up by a secured door and security camera. I swipe my keycard that is on one of those bungie clips that you're supposed to wear on your waist band and after I was granted access, I walked through the door. When I entered, a colony of cubicles were laid out in front of me, perfectly aligned in a complex maze, as if created by a small ant army. As I turn my eyes to the right, I see graffiti art that took over the entire wall; it resembled something out of Harlem in the late 80's, a mixture of retro junk and hip-hop. The development guys remain motionless just five feet away, drinking their loose leaf green tea, while being lost in their lines of code. I scanned the rest of the room and alight West, turning around a corner only to find another set of cubicles. When I pass through a line of squares that I'm positive were purchased directly from the movie Office Space, I arrive at my destination- my cubical- plain, cold, and bare.
And I think to myself, thank God I work remote.
